Life in a coconut

First of all, let’s all understand the term coconut, maybe we are not all familiar with what it means exactly. When we say coconut we can refer to the coconut palm tree or to the large, hard-shelled seed of the coconut palm, lined with a white edible meat, and containing a milky liquid. With the clear idea of what a coconut fruit is now, I would like to share a few of my beliefs and thoughts with you.

It is not easy to be you, is it? Why am I saying this? Because it is not easy to be me either.  We come to life innocent, pure and clean. Our parents try to educate and protect us from anything that could harm us, and give us the best advice that they can give, based on their experience and beliefs and society they grew up with. Once we grow older we start deciding on our own what is wrong and what is right for us based on our beliefs, but of course the path we choose and the decisions we take in life will have a tremendous impact on us.
We often get criticized and judged by  society and what’s worse, your so called friends: on how we talk, what we wear, what car we drive, what job we do, who your friends are, who you date and so on. All these judgments will affect you until you decide to shield yourself, and not let anything affect you, at least you pretend not to be affected. Layer by layer until your outside becomes stronger and stronger and seems unbreakable. You might not always look your best or be your best but you want to do it to please others, in order not to be judged.
What is the worst really? To be yourself or pretend to be someone society wants you to be? Yes, it affects you and it hurts you to hear all comments people have to tell you because they think they are right. But do they live your life? Are they really happy? Do you go to bed with… society? Why must we always care what others think and not do what really makes us happy?
Listening to others’ advice is always good, learning from others’ mistakes is also great (it saves you time from recovering from the damage) but do what you want to do and don’t worry too much about what others have to say, trust me they wish they were you and have what you have. Be honest, be yourself, say what you want to say, stand up for yourself and learn how to love yourself for who you are and what you do.
We are all different in any kind of way and you don’t have to be someone who you are not in order to please the world. The world has to accept you the way you are.
Let go the coconut shield and let people see how you really are. You don’t need to be surrounded by hundreds of “friends” you only need that one person to accept you for who you are and not judge you. Be surrounded by people who want you around them and not the ones who bring negativity to your life. Let all negative things that are affecting your life go, they are not worth being carried around by you.
