Sickening Rides in Six Flags, California

You know the days when you just want to try new things? I am pretty sure you know what I mean. An old friend and I decided to go for a three days trip to California for some documents to be signed and have some fun while we are at it.

After a stressful drive on the Californian highways to the six flags, we finally arrived at the destination unbroken and almost kissing the ground that we made it. We went straight to the wildest roller-coaster they had. Oh boy… we couldn’t talk after that ride. We felt so sick. I am not sure if it was the best idea, but it was definitely an unforgettable experience. While relaxing on a bank, we saw a fun raft water ride. After spending a few more minutes to bring us back to our senses, since our legs were shaking, we decided to forget about the ride and continue with the adventure.

We huddled close for photos, walked to the raft almost skipping in excitement. Part of our excitement came from the fact that we spoke a common language. If you are not a native English speaker, I am sure you can relate to what it feels like to speak in your own language in a foreign land where nobody but the one you are with understands.

Arriving at the water ride, we started looking around. Now don’t think we were some sort of fashion brigade, but yes we were guilty of laughing at people’s appearances as if they dressed for a rainy day and we were making fun of them thinking how silly they look with the raincoat on a hot summery day.

But you know what? They definitely knew more than we did and they came prepared. We sat in the raft with few older people all funnily dressed. Few curious people asked where we were from after hearing our accents.

After that rollercoaster ride, this was just what we needed. Who doesn’t like water? A bit of splash in the water would make us feel less sick, we thought. Err... maybe not. Thank God we had not eaten before. There was this round water raft with eight people in it, all knowing what they are going for except us. After securing ourselves properly on the raft, not aware what for, we were ready for takeoff. Niagara Falls must be nothing compared to this ride. There was cascade after cascade, one crazier than the other. I screamed my lungs out as I was afraid for my life. Both of us were praying to God for this ride to be over so we can disembark safely and make it back home in one piece. While screaming, laughing and holding the safety belts with all our strength, a huge water fall landed on our heads while the raft was almost flipped over. We were soaking wet. Seeing each other’s faces in panic and fear of falling off the raft, we burst into a hysterical laugh that made everyone on the boat laugh.

The older people were us what to do since they realized we had no clue of what to expect.

Once we were on the deck checking if we were still alive while laughing like two crazy girls, we decided to check the damage. Not much besides the phones being soaked in water and swollen batteries. We definitely needed a new outfit for the day. We were so wet that it became a struggle to walk in jeans.

Finally, we reached a souvenir shop to buy something to wear for the day since it was getting windy and we didn’t want to get sick. Not many choices were available, but we came up with something nice that managed to make ourselves feel pretty well.

The rest of the day was just amusing and fun, but we learned not to jump onto rides before witnessing what it will do. The lesson was learnt at the expense of three phones and clothes but it was an important one. After all, dying on an amusement park ride would be a sham, right!?
